Accessibility statement
Our commitment to making this website usable for everyone. How we test for accessibility, what we've done, and what to do if you encounter a problem.
Our commitment
Embrace Therapeutic Fostering Services Ltd is committed to making this website accessible to as many people as possible, regardless of disability, age, technology or device.
We've built this site to meet the international Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) version 2.2 at level AA wherever possible.
What this means in practice
You should be able to:
- Zoom up to 200% without text spilling off the screen
- Move around most of the website using just a keyboard
- Use most of the website with speech recognition software
- Listen to most of the website using a screen reader (recent versions of JAWS, NVDA and VoiceOver)
- Pause the video and the rotating word on our homepage. There's a pause button in the top corner of the picture
We've also written the content as clearly as we can, using plain language and avoiding jargon where possible.
Things we've built in
- Skip-to-content link at the top of every page
- Semantic HTML (proper headings, landmarks, lists)
- Alt text on informative images
- Sufficient colour contrast (purple and green button colours have been chosen to meet WCAG AA contrast)
- A visible outline on every link, button and form field you tab to, including on the dark purple sections
- Respect for the
prefers-reduced-motionsetting, if you have this turned on in your operating system, animations and the rotating headline will pause - Form fields with proper labels and inline error messaging
- ARIA labels and roles where needed
- A focus trap inside the mobile menu, so tabbing stays in the menu until you close it
Known issues
We're aware of the following things that may cause problems for some users. We're working to fix them:
- Some Unsplash placeholder images currently in use will be replaced with real photography. The replacement images will all have proper alt text describing the content of the image
- The PDF Statement of Purpose may not yet be fully tagged for screen readers, we're updating that
- External videos embedded from third-party platforms may have variable caption quality

Enforcement
